While a path was being drawn, the Pen's Auto Add/Delete was off, so adding a point meant finishing the path and switching to Add Anchor Point. Now a click on a segment of the path in progress adds an anchor, a click on a middle anchor deletes it, and drawing carries on from the last anchor. The first anchor still closes the path and the last still breaks its handle. The hover highlight draws over the path in progress, and the rubber band hides where a click adds or deletes instead of placing an anchor.
