remotes_running() took any socket error for an ft-screens without remote
displays, so adding or connecting a display with the desktop stopped
said "this ft-screens can't show them (build it again)". A report
(2026-10-21) had the user reinstalling versions over it. Socket errors
now raise NoAnswer, which passes through: adding a display then says
"saved; not started now: ft-screens ... isn't running or didn't answer".
An error reply to "remotes" still means an old build.
