Web UI usage

We have a slightly-customized perfetto Web UI hosted at https://deckard.pages.steamos.cloud/perfetto/

To capture from the Web UI, first install perfetto on your frame device by running:

sudo steamos-readonly disable
sudo pacman --noconfirm -S perfetto perfetto-android

Then, on your PC create an SSH tunnel to allow the Perfetto Web UI to connect:

ssh -L8037:localhost:8037 steamos@frame.local

Finally, navigate to the Linux -> Steam Frame preset for a good set of default capture settings. If everything worked, you should get some green text showing that your headset's perfetto daemon is connected to the Web UI:

CLI usage

To start a perfetto capture, run:

$ ./perfetto.sh

By default, this will use the system config, which captures a lot of information. A lighter-weight vrlink config shows how to pare down some of the datasources for a lighter impact on the running system.

This capture will run for 60s or until CTRL-C is pressed.

The capture will write out a file to /tmp that can be copied back to a desktop and opened with the perfetto viewer.
