The port reads the game's files from data/ rather than from a disc. dcdata
reads the ISO 9660 tree itself (the PAL prototype's UDF bridge does not
parse), or a directory already holding DATA.DAT and DATA.HD2, parses the
index as PAL's InitCDFile does and writes every file under its lowercased
path. Files already present at their size are kept, so a rerun is cheap,
and the index is copied alongside for the game to cross-check.
The core is a header so the port's tests and data reader can use it
without linking the tool.
docs/PC_PORT_PLAN.md is the target architecture and the phased plan for the
native port. The port's objects move into an object library so the tests
link the same code the game does, and tools/dcdata is hooked into the build.
