    Jellyframe 0.1.2

This release adds photo viewing, intro and credits skipping, and easier screen adjustments with the joystick.

    Added

    • View photos from your Jellyfin library, with previous and next controls.
    • Skip intros, credits, recaps, and previews when your Jellyfin server supplies media segments.
    • Choose Play from start beside Resume to restart a title with saved progress.
    • See controller models alongside the laser pointers when your OpenXR runtime provides them.
    • See watched badges on episode cards.

    Controls and settings

    • Press B to open or close the library while playback continues.
    • Press Y to open or close settings.
    • Settings now has a sidebar with separate Library sorting, Screen, Environment, and Playback pages.
    • Screen position sliders have thicker tracks and larger handles.
    • Moving the joystick left or right no longer scrolls pages vertically.
    • Up/down scrolls the page without changing the slider value, even when the slider has focus.
    • Starting playback preserves your viewing position and direction until you recenter.

    Playback and other changes

    • PC Vulkan playback now samples video planes directly in the screen shader, removing the separate conversion pass.
    • PC video read-ahead buffering now allows up to 30 seconds or 256 MiB.
    • PC stream requests identify the client as Jellyframe through the HTTP User-Agent header.
    • Changed the default background clear color to black.
    • Included the video shader in Android exports.
    • Removed the bundled Android calibration playback option from the app.

    Added

    • Native Vulkan video playback on Windows and Linux, using FFmpeg for decoding and GPU shaders for color conversion. Hardware decoding is used when supported by the device and codec.
    • HDR-to-SDR tone mapping for PQ and HLG video in the PC Vulkan backend. Native HDR output is not supported.
    • Selectable maximum transcoding resolutions of 720p, 1080p, and 4K when using Transcoded playback mode. The selection is saved between sessions. Automatic fallback continues to use 1080p.
    • Automated checks for Vulkan playback, HDR conversion, buffering recovery, performance, and video transitions.

    Changed

    • Windows and Linux now default to Vulkan, with OpenGL Compatibility as a fallback if Vulkan cannot initialize.
    • Linux builds now provide one AppImage per architecture instead of separate OpenGL and Vulkan AppImages. Desktop export preset names are now Windows, Linux x64, and Linux ARM64.
    • Updated PC build dependencies and packaged license notices for the FFmpeg backend.
    • Removed routine playback and controller debug logging.
    • Refreshed installation, usage, development, and licensing documentation.
    • Updated the project version and Jellyfin client header to 0.1.1, and increased the Android version code to 2.

    Fixed

    • Cleared the previous PC video texture when opening or stopping playback, preventing stale frames between sessions.
    • Hidden previous Android video frames until the new stream has a frame ready, and ignored callbacks from superseded playback sessions.

    Known limitations

    • Steam Frame remains untested.
    • Linux VR playback has been tested on SteamOS, ARM64 and other Linux systems still need headset testing.
    • 180° projection and top-bottom 3D still need headset validation.
    • High-resolution playback, especially 8K and full-SBS, needs further performance testing. Some videos require server-side transcoding
    • HDR relies on conversion to SDR.
    • Audio and subtitle selection, favourites, collections, manual watched status, and automatically hiding playback controls are not yet available.
