PSGFX 2.0 Stable
released this
2026-10-11 21:30:32 +02:00 | 13 commits to main since this releasePSGFX 2.0 has a completely new look and a community icon library, and it works with the latest PS5 Upload. If you're updating from 1.1, this release also brings everything from 1.2 and 1.3, including home-screen music.
Download:
PSGFX-windows.zipbelow. Unzip it once and runPSGFX.exe. You'll need the PS5 Upload app (6.0 or newer) open and paired with your console.New in 2.0
New design
- Rebuilt glass interface with a chromatic edge and smooth animations, and everything is bigger and easier to read.
- The editor is split into Icon / Background / Music / Name tabs, with a dot on each tab you've changed.
- Search box in the app list.
- Save and Restore stay pinned at the bottom of the editor.
Easier connecting
- Connecting happens in a pop-up in the middle of the screen, with 3 steps that walk you through PS5 Upload.
- PSGFX remembers your PS5's IP and reconnects on its own next time.
Community icons
- Browse icons other people made for the selected game and apply one with a click.
- Share your own icon for a game straight from the app. Read the short guidelines, add an optional nickname, and it goes live right away.
- Report any icon that breaks the rules. Reported icons are hidden until they're reviewed.
- Every icon is public on GitHub in psgfx-community.
Home layout
- The preview has a full white outline around the selected tile.
- The row slides as you move between apps.
- Switching between Games and Media fades, and the background crossfades.
- Hiding an app, or moving it to the other tab, selects the next app automatically instead of keeping the old app's settings in the side panel. An Undo button lets you take it back.
From 1.3: home-screen music
- Give any game or homebrew its own home-screen music from an MP3, WAV or FLAC. PSGFX converts it to the PS5's format (ATRAC9,
snd0.at9) for you. - Music now actually plays: PSGFX points the home screen's database at the new file. Restore original removes it again.
- PSGFX is now GPL-3.0, because the music encoder is ported from PS5 AT9 Converter.
From 1.2: works with PS5 Upload 6.x and 7.x
- PS5 Upload 6.0 removed the connection PSGFX 1.1 relied on, which left it unable to reach the PS5. PSGFX now connects through the PS5 Upload app itself, so there's nothing extra to set up.
Fixes
- Fixed "database disk image is malformed" when loading Home layout on consoles with a large app database.
- Big app lists and database reads no longer time out on slower connections.
- The editor is centered in wide windows, and the scrollbars match the app.
- The download is a single zip, so you only unzip once.
Known issue
- After a full PS5 restart, some Home layout changes can come back undone. This is being looked into. Your art and music aren't affected.
If PSGFX made your PS5 look the way you want, you can support me on Ko-fi. ☕
