🎮 Remote PKG Installer (v3.53)

Release v3.53 Platform PS4 Status Author Ari

The definitive, ultra-stable Remote Package Installer for jailbroken PlayStation 4 consoles.
Install game packages, updates, and DLC over your high-speed local network directly from any PC, Mac, iPhone, or Android browser — without third-party sender tools, external hard drives, or console reboots!

🌟 Why Version 3.53?

For years, the original v1.00 and v1.02 homebrew installers suffered from severe community-reported bugs: console fans screaming at 100% CPU, frequent freezes, and the infamous CE-32871-1 error that forced users to reboot their PS4 every single time they closed or deleted the app.

Version 3.53 solves every single one of these issues from the ground up.

🚀 Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Install the PKG on your PS4

  1. One-Time Reboot: If you previously had an older version installed, delete it and restart your PS4 to flush any stale kernel memory locks left behind by old builds.
  2. Download PS4RP-3.53.pkg from the Releases tab.
  3. Copy PS4RP-3.53.pkg to a USB drive (exFAT/FAT32) and plug it into your PS4.
  4. On your PS4 running GoldHEN, go to Settings \rightarrow GoldHEN \rightarrow Package Installer and install Remote PKG Installer.
  5. Launch the app from your PS4 dashboard. A TV notification will appear showing your PS4's local IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.50) and port (12801).

Step 2: Send PKGs from Any Device (Easiest Method — No Apps Required!)

You don't need to install any PC sender tools. You can install games directly from your phone, tablet, laptop, or PC browser:

  1. Host your .pkg files on your local network using any lightweight HTTP server (e.g. Node http-server, Python python -m http.server 8080, or HFS).
  2. Open your web browser on any device and visit:
    http://<YOUR_PS4_IP>:12801/

  3. Paste your PKG download link into the Direct PKG Installer box:
    http://192.168.1.100:8080/Game.pkg

(For multi-part split PKGs like game_0.pkg, game_1.pkg, simply paste each link on a new line!)
  4. Click Install to PS4.
  5. Watch live progress tracking with real-time percentage, downloaded gigabytes, transfer speed, and estimated time remaining!
  6. When finished, simply click Exit App right on the dashboard to shut down the installer cleanly.

Step 3: Using Third-Party PC Sender Tools (Optional)

If you prefer using desktop tools like PS4 Remote PKG Sender (by Modded Warfare / CyB1K / BenjaminFaal):

  • PS4 IP: Enter your PS4's IP address.
  • Port: Set port to 12801.
  • All legacy REST endpoints are 100% backward-compatible.

🛡️ The Technical Breakdown: How Error CE-32871-1 Was Solved

  • What caused CE-32871-1?
CE-32871-1 is Sony's error code for SCE_LNC_UTIL_ERROR_SETUP_FS_SANDBOX. In previous 1.02 ports, the code executed libjbc.prx which escalated credentials into root prison0. When the application was closed, the FreeBSD kernel lost track of the app's isolated sandbox container (og.prison), permanently orphaning the /app0 filesystem mount in RAM until the entire console was rebooted.
  • The v3.53 Fix:
GoldHEN already provides clean kernel patches for internal system modules and package installation daemons (BGFT, AppInstUtil). In v3.53, libjbc.prx is bypassed on GoldHEN. The app runs in its native sandbox, and process termination is paired with the official sceSystemServiceLoadExec("exit", NULL) OS handshake. When closed, Sony's Launch Manager (SceLncService) unmounts /app0 cleanly and immediately. You can now close and reopen the app repeatedly with zero console restarts.

🎮 PS5 Compatibility Note

  • Does this PKG run directly on PS5?
No. This PKG is built exclusively for the PS4 Orbis OS kernel.
  • Can you still send packages remotely to a jailbroken PS5?
Yes, but without installing this PKG! On a jailbroken PS5 (firmware 3.00–4.51+), you enable etaHEN (which has built-in DPIv2 server on port 12800) or load the pkg-receiver.elf payload. You then use desktop sender tools pointing to your PS5 IP on port 12800.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Q: I can't connect using PS4 Remote PKG Sender or loopayeh's sender (Port 12800).
A: v3.53 features a built-in Web Dashboard running on port 12801, meaning third-party PC sender apps are no longer required. Simply open a web browser on any device on the same network, navigate to http://<PS4-IP>:12801/, and paste your package links directly. If you prefer using legacy senders on port 12800, check your Windows Defender or third-party firewall, as they frequently block outbound connections on that port.

Q: HFS (HTTP File Server) is generating 192.168.0.xxx links instead of my actual 192.168.1.xxx IP.
A: This happens when HFS binds to a virtual network adapter (like a VPN, VirtualBox, or VMware) instead of your primary local network. To fix this on your PC, open HFS, click Menu > IP address, and manually select your active 192.168.1.x network adapter.

Q: The live log shows "Unable to set up prerequisites for package" or "Unable to download package header" when I try to install.
A: This means the PS4's internal downloader cannot reach or read the file at the URL you provided. Verify the following:

  • Simplify the Filename: The PS4 downloader struggles to parse spaces and special characters. Rename your file on your PC to something simple like game.pkg and update your link.
  • Check the Port: Ensure the port in your URL matches the port your web server is actually running on. Also, try removing :80 from your link if your server uses the default HTTP port.
  • Firewall Blocking: Your PC's firewall might be blocking the PS4 from reading the file. Press the Windows key, search for "Allow an app through Windows Firewall", and ensure your web server (e.g., Apache HTTP Server, httpd.exe) is allowed on both Private and Public networks.
  • Hidden Extensions: Ensure Windows isn't hiding file extensions, which can cause your file to actually be named game.pkg.pkg on the disk.

Enjoy high-speed, zero-crash remote package installs on your PS4! 🚀
