    v1.3.0 Stable

DieMitchell released this 2026-10-23 02:02:08 +02:00 | 9 commits to main since this release

This was a massive update. What started as a few UI improvements, bug fixes, and new emulator profiles became much more involved. I made significant changes to the HTTP library, which brought a significant performance improvement and greater connection stability. For all those reasons and more, we are now at 1.3.0. Thank you to all who report issues, enhancements, and more. Enjoy.

    New

    • Extra emulators no longer get their own copy of every game. Their games folder is mounted from the system's main emulator while they run (PSSwanStation, PSXS5, SwanStationPS5), and the old copies are removed.
    • Groundwork for keeping all your games, saves and states in one RommPS folder, mounted into every emulator.
    • Changing a system's main emulator moves its RomM games to the new one. If other games are in the old one's folder, RommPS asks what to do with them.
    • BIOS files sync from RomM to every emulator that needs them, with the name each one expects. PS2 emulators get a single BIOS, but your own BIOS files are never replaced.
    • Shared memory cards (PS2, Dreamcast) now sync both ways between your consoles. Each system uses either shared cards or one card per game.
    • New emulators: PS64 (C64), PSSwanStation, PSFlyCast (Dreamcast), Seedee5 (CD-i), XPSemu (Xbox), PS5CEMU-HAR (Wii U, 3DS, DS) and ProsperoEden (Switch).
    • Switch games download with their latest update and DLC, into the folders ProsperoEden reads. Each game gets one card in the library, and its details show the title ID of the game, its update and each DLC.
    • New saves that sync: Wii U and 3DS (with 3DS save states), Dreamcast VMUs in PSFlyCast and RetroArch's Flycast core, Beetle Saturn cartridge saves and SwanStation .mcd cards.
    • RetroArch recognizes 14 more systems, including 3DS, Jaguar, 3DO, PC-FX and Neo Geo CD.
    • Redesigned connection handling: RommPS keeps its connections to RomM open instead of opening a new one for every cover and page, so it's much lighter on your server. When RomM stops answering, RommPS stops backs off after a reasonable number of attempts.
    • Downloads that are cut off for some reason carry on where they stopped, and ones that failed while RomM was away start again once it's back. Failed or cancelled downloads can be retried from the Queue.
    • When a new emulator is detected, RommPS reminds you to go set it up in Emulator Settings
    • Archived games (.rar, or any archive for Switch) aren't downloaded. RommPS asks you to unpack them on the server.
    • The Downloads tab is now Queue. A new Downloads tab lists the games on the console and replaces the library's "On this console" row. Same in the web UI.
    • Game details show the rating, and button hints stay readable over any cover.
    • Interface sounds can be turned off in Settings.
    • Activity shows BIOS files and moved games.

    PS4

Note: You may need to install the PKG AND copy over the new background payload, and enable it for autorun. If you don't see that you're running 1.3.0, please follow those steps.

    • Updated PS4 SDK brings FW 13.52 and 14.00 support.
    • New emulators: pSNES, pNES, pGEN, pGBA and pFBN (now with save states), EmuSuNi, DolphinPS4, NPS64, SNESUI, PS4SX2, Resonance and RArch.
    • GameCube saves are shared with the PS5. N64 saves are shared between NPS64, EmuSuNi and RetroArch.
    • Resonance's memory cards sync.
    • When the sync service isn't running, RommPS says why.
    • Big libraries no longer run the sync service out of memory while browsing, which could fail downloads.
    • The PS4 app is now called RommPS and installs over the old one.
    • The web UI is faster.

    Fixed

    • PSXS5 2.0 save states and memory cards sync again.
    • Large save states (GameCube) sync both ways.
    • PS1 and PS2 game lists with lots of info load again.
    • Turning on many emulators at once no longer stops the sync service.
    • A game deleted outside RommPS no longer shows as downloaded.
    • Each console shows on RomM under its own name.
    • Accented letters in names (Pokémon) show as they should, instead of "?".
    • A game whose file was moved or renamed on the RomM server says so, instead of a bare HTTP error.
    • General fixes and improvements.

    Good to know

    • Update all your consoles. A console still on 1.2 can't read Wii saves made with 1.3.
    • Shared memory cards become one card on RomM for all your consoles. The first sync keeps the card played last, and a blank card never replaces one with saves. The other stays in your backups.
    • RommPS now always starts with the console, and the setting to turn that off is gone.
    • Re-run setup wizard moved to Settings > RomM.
    • 3DS save states only load in PS5CEMU-HAR.

    v1.2.1 Stable

DieMitchell released this 2026-10-16 03:01:12 +02:00 | 37 commits to main since this release

    New

    • A breaking change was introduced in RetroArch 2.0.0 support where games live in new folders, named after each system (content/Nintendo - Game Boy Advance). New RomM game downloads go there, and RommPS offers to move the games already in the old folders. Saves and states stay where they are.
    • RetroArch 2.0.0 plays PS2 with PS5SX2. Its default is shared memory cards and not per-game cards.
    • Variable width game covers are now supported. Square and wide boxes (SNES, N64 and others) are no longer squeezed into portrait cards, and display as expected.

    Fixed

    • PS2 BIOS files for RetroArch go to system/pcsx2/bios, where its PS2 cores look for them.

    Good to know

    • PS2 save states made with LRPS2 don't load in PS5SX2. Save in-game before upgrading RetroArch.

DieMitchell released this 2026-10-15 02:01:14 +02:00 | 39 commits to main since this release

Update RommPS and open it once. It updates everything else. This release packs a significant set of new features.

    New

    • Saves come down as soon as a game finishes downloading, so it's ready to play.
    • Save states only come down to an emulator that can load them.
    • Save syncing can now be toggled off if you want RomM just for games, or pick per platform: saves and states, saves only, or off.
    • Home has Conflicts, Activity (what synced and why) and Tracked saves. Each game has its own saves view, with restore.
    • Settings is organized by platform: its emulator, folders, save sync and settings in one place.
    • GameCube saves keep the form RomM has them in: a zip, a single .gci, or a whole memory card. Other saves on a card are left alone.
    • Porpoise is supported, including its save states. SwanStationPS5 and PS5NES are offered too.
    • Settings > Diagnostic bundle, for bug reports and troubleshooting.
    • Hold Options to close RommPS gracefully, avoiding any weird behaviors that you often see when hard closing homebrew apps.
    • Newer theme in Web UI to pretty it up.

    Fixed

    • A save or state deleted from the console comes back from RomM.
    • Older saves from before RomM's save slots now reach the console.
    • A blank PS1 memory card from RomM never replaces one with saves on it.
    • Games in folders download with their file names.
    • Notifications say what moved and for which games, and every download says when it's done.
    • Several overall optimizations in image fetching, game downloading, and sync logic.

    Good to know

    • RomM's web player and the PS5 emulators don't always use the same core. A state only comes down where it can load. If you have a state that won't load, check the emulator.

    What's new

    • Released on the ProsperoStore to increase visibility and bring this to the masses.
    • This is now a native PS5 app instead of a browser app which was nice and decently fast, but couldn't touch the new UI. It runs on the same Vulkan homebrew UI as mihawk-99's apps, so it's fast and looks great. Note: You will see two icons for this release, one is the new, native app "RommPS" and a second one "Romm Sync" is the old browser-based UI. This will be removed shortly.
    • A bunch of new information displayed for each game: Game details (year, genre, play time, How Long to Beat), etc.
    • Built sync presets for all the latest emulators (SwanStationPS5, PSXS5, RetroArch, PS5N64, and more to come soon (some were broken and wouldn't work...)
    • More than one emulator synced per game system. Pick a main one, and the others get the same games. Where the save format matches, they share one save. This will be especially useful with the huge and FAST influx of AI-coded homebrew.
    • If setup doesn't recognize an emulator (or doesn't know a system), point it at the folders yourself through an easy to use UI, not just the JSON profile editor.
    • Covers are cached and delta syncs are performed to significantly increase library load speed on larger game libraries.
    • Download speeds per game and in total, and you can cancel downloads at any time.
    • Games with more than one version in RomM now say what sets each one apart, like the region or the disc.

    Fixed and changed

    • Junk your RomM scan picked up, like a frontend's metadata.txt, no longer shows up as a game or downloads. Neither do manuals and soundtracks inside a game's folder.
    • Downloads show the game's name right away instead of "Game #id".
    • Pairing with a different RomM server no longer mixes up the old server's games and saves.
    • The PS4 build is experimental. I've only tested it with RetroArch so far.

    Which file do I need?

    • PS5: install RommPS from ProsperoStore. Or unzip PPSA76677.zip and copy the PPSA76677 folder to /data/homebrew/. That's all you need.
    • PS5 without the app: send romm-sync.elf to your HEN's payload loader (port 9021) and set it up from a browser at port 8780.
    • PS4 (experimental): install romm-sync-ps4.pkg and open RomM Sync, then run romm-sync-ps4.elf from GoldHEN's payloader.
    • The manifest files are for the in-app updater, and SHA256SUMS is for checking downloads. You don't need either.

    Dev's Note

So...this a pretty massive update. After spending numerous hours building out the first UI in version 1.0.0-1.0.2, I realized that there were some excellent examples of a modern, native UI that was actually super-responsive. So....I no-life'd this version this entire week to bring you an immense number of changes. I even bought some pizza for some buddies and had them as my test guinea pigs (Yes, I worked them to the bone all for your benefit) to flesh out any bugs. Like any other release, things can break, so please report them right away.

Look for many more minor updates as I STRUGGLE to keep up with all the new emulators. My goal is to detect and preset as much as possible, but as always: you have manual control too.
