From review: EET and WET link to Athens and Lisbon but name clock rules,
not Greece or Portugal, so they and the other rule names (CET, EST5EDT, …)
send nothing. Pacific/Johnston has left zone.tab, which made its Honolulu
group look only American; it's set to UM by hand.

From review: tzdata links an old name to any zone with the same clocks,
even in another country (Africa/Asmera, Eritrea, links to Africa/Nairobi).
An old name now gets a country only when every zone sharing its target is
in that country, or when it's a hand-checked old name for a place listed in
zone.tab. The rest (UTC, CET, GMT, …) send nothing. Every zone Node's ICU
reports has an entry.

From review: the time zone setting could hold any text (a TZ like
home/alex/private passed the name check), so the app now looks the zone up
in a table made from the tz database (scripts/timezones.py) and sends only
its two-letter country; anything not in the table sends nothing.
Turning a setting on no longer counts as having seen the new notice, and
the country is taken out at send time until it has been, so it can't
leave early whatever order things happen in.

Opens, installs and updates carry the computer's time zone name (from
Electron, which knows it on every OS), so we can see roughly which
countries Frame Control is used in without ever seeing an address.
The first-run notice now has a version. Copies that saw the older notice
see it again, and keep sending their usual statistics, but leave the time
zone out until they've seen the new one.

steam_not_running, steam_not_responding, steam_js_error and artwork_failed
for the Frame-side Steam client script (its "Connection refused" and
"timed out" were filed as frame_unreachable), copy_timeout and copy_failed
for rsync/scp, internal_error for Python's own errors (KeyError,
JSONDecodeError, ...) whatever they say, and apk_unreadable now covers
every frame_apk.ApkError wording. docs/privacy.md lists them all, and a
test keeps it in sync.

The page polled POST /api/comfort status every 5 s whatever the connection,
and every POST Failure >= 500 went to diagnostics. ssh already marks link
failures, but those are still sent once per session per category, so each
session with a sleeping, away or re-keyed headset sent up to three reports
from this poll (most of 0.4.2's error reports). GET /api/status never reports
Failures at all.
- server: a polled POST read (POLLS: comfort status) that couldn't reach the
headset isn't a diagnostic, as with GET /api/status. Real comfort errors,
and link failures from starting or cancelling a session, still are.
- page: the comfort poll starts after the first status check and skips its
ssh while the Frame is offline (online === false); status checks bring
it back.

frame_connected now carries headset_id, a one-way hash of the headset's
/etc/machine-id worked out on the headset (frame_status.py), and
headsets_saved, how many headsets this copy of the app has set up. It is
sent once per build for each headset. The hash goes to usage statistics
only: the status endpoint and MCP clients don't get it. docs/privacy.md
says what is sent.

0.4.2 sent $exception reports from the status poll (POST /api/comfort status,
frame_auth) on Linux and Windows for three states the person could not fix from
the app:
- A changed host key (REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED): the advice was
"Run Set Up Connection again", which checks ~/.ssh/known_hosts and never
replaces the headset's pinned key; Forget identity trusted whatever answered
next without showing it.
- No pinned key ("No ED25519 host key is known for frame-control-<id> and you
have requested strict checking"): every command said
StrictHostKeyChecking=yes, so any command that ran before (or without) the
connector's first handshake saving the key failed.
- Permission denied (publickey, password): not something a retry fixes.
Commands now use accept-new until a key is saved and yes after (accept-new
never replaces a saved key). A changed key fails at the identity stage with its
fingerprint; the banner and Devices tab offer "Check the new key", which reads
the key with a throwaway known_hosts file and no login, shows it beside the
saved one, and pins exactly that key only when the person confirms. Refused
keys point to Set Up Connection. ssh's own host key and login refusals are
marked as link failures and frame_auth joins the expected categories, so each
is reported at most once a session.

Review round 4 of #78: /api/android and /api/titles re-raise frame_android's
FrameError as Failure(str(e)), which dropped frame_link_failed, so their
connection failures were still reported after the status poll's first one.
Both now raise ... from e, and diagnostic() follows __cause__
(frame_telemetry.link_failed). server.ssh() judges a link failure on ssh's
stderr only, never the command's stdout.

Review round 3 of #78: matching ssh's words in the message could still be
spoofed by a download's file name ("Connection closed by frame port 22.zip"
in a checksum failure lost its $exception after a poll timeout). Now
server.ssh and frame_android.ssh mark the exception (frame_host.link_failure)
when ssh itself failed to reach the headset: a time out, or exit 255 with a
line ssh starts (frame_host.ssh_link_failed). diagnostic() holds back only
marked errors in frame_unreachable / frame_not_set_up, once per session;
everything else keeps the 10-minute window. Web-link download and checksum
failures are classified download_failed before any other category.

Review round 2 of #78: FRAME_LINK_FAILED matched its words anywhere, so a
web-link checksum mismatch for a file named kex_exchange_identification.zip,
after a status-poll timeout, lost its $exception. Each pattern is now
anchored to the start of a line as ssh prints it (re.M), and our own
"Timed out talking to HOST" must be the whole line.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Review of #78: the once-per-session hold applied to anything classified
frame_unreachable, so after one status-poll timeout a web-link download whose
connection reset ("download failed: ... Connection reset by peer") lost its
$exception. Now the hold needs ssh's own wording (connect to host, could not
resolve, timed out talking to, banner exchange, mux/client_loop, connection
closed/reset by HOST port N); everything else keeps the 10-minute window.
Web-link download failures are download_failed. A bare "ssh exited 255" is
no longer frame_unreachable: the command on the Frame may have exited 255.

Review pr75-review-r2: _webinstall_run catches non-FrameError APK install
failures without a diagnostic, and apk_installed now leaves those to the
caller, so they went unreported. Report them there; test the full worker.

Review findings on PR #75 (pr75-review-r1):
- Catalogue, alternate-version and web-link installs now append the
"installed without the OpenXR layer" warning to their completion message
(frame_android.layer_note); dropped files already showed vr_issues.
- A non-FrameError that install() re-raises is reported by whoever catches
it (job or request handler, with its traceback), so apk_installed sends
install_finished without its own diagnostic for it (install_finished
diagnose=False). Still exactly one install_finished.
- Tests run the real job path for both.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- frame_android: a missing, unreadable or empty OpenXR compat layer no longer
aborts a VR install; it installs without the layer and says so (vr_issues),
unless the layer was asked for explicitly. Patch failures are named, and any
exception (not only FrameError) reaches the install hooks/telemetry.
- app/build/check-resources.js (electron-builder afterPack): the build fails if
the layer's arm64-v8a library or other required resources are missing.
- frame_telemetry: new fixed error categories layer_missing, apk_repack_failed,
tool_missing; ok=false without an error reports "other".
- server: install_finished carries xr_layer_missing when a VR APK installed
without the layer. docs/privacy.md lists every category and the new field.

The status poll (POST /api/comfort status) meets an asleep or absent headset
every few seconds, and each ssh failure became a $exception: ~760 in two weeks
from 0.4.0, nearly all connection timeouts. Errors whose category only means
the Frame couldn't be reached (frame_unreachable, frame_not_set_up) are now
sent at most once per category per session; other errors keep the 10-minute
per-message window.
The classifier now also files "Host is down", Windows' "Unknown error" and
"banner exchange: Connection to UNKNOWN port -1", "ssh exited 255", and
dropped shared connections (mux_client_, client_loop) as frame_unreachable
instead of "other".

- Ticking follow-up questions on a report makes that address the contact
email (follow-up ticked, update choice unchanged), so Settings shows it
and Remove my email withdraws it like any other.
- Reports carry contact_rev; the inbox takes a report's follow-up
permission back when a later change from that copy (higher rev) no
longer agrees, whatever the clocks say.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- A report with follow-up ticked carries this copy's contact id, and the
inbox marks its permission withdrawn when a later choice from that copy
no longer agrees to follow-up questions at that address.
- The one-time prompt never appears in a visit that showed the privacy
notice, even if the Frame connects just after it's dismissed.
- Saving contact details isn't headset work: it can't hold up switching
headsets or be refused after a switch.
- Consent flags must be JSON true/false; "false" is no longer consent.

Problem reports arrive with no way to reply. People can now leave an email
address with two separate opt-ins: occasional update notices, and follow-up
questions from the maintainer.
- ui/frame_contact.py keeps the address and choices locally and sends each
change privately to PostHog as a contact_consent event under its own random
contact id; removing the address sends a withdrawal without it. Changes made
offline wait and are retried.
- A one-time, dismissible prompt appears after the Frame first connects; No
thanks and showing it once are both remembered.
- Privacy & updates gains a Contact email section to add, change or remove it.
- The report form's contact field now goes with a report only when "may
contact me with follow-up questions" is ticked (contact_followup).
- frame_report.py contacts [updates|followup] lists who agreed to what,
using the newest event per copy.
- docs/privacy.md says what is collected, why, where and how to remove it.

On a maintainer's Mac the compatibility-database key is in the Keychain, so a
test that reached install reporting published fake reports. Every test module
now imports tests/sandbox.py first, which points app data at a throwaway
directory (new FRAME_CONTROL_DATA_DIR), turns telemetry off and sends the
database nowhere.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Analytics go to the maintainer's PostHog US project 343535, tagged
$lib = frame-control. Every event carries $ip 0.0.0.0, since PostHog
stores the sender's address otherwise (checked live), including events
queued by earlier versions.
- Report a problem sends a private problem_report event to PostHog instead
of a public GitHub issue, with its own random id so a contact address
can't be linked to analytics. The dialog asks how to reach the person and
shows a reference. Maintainers read reports on the PostHog dashboard or
with `python3 ui/frame_report.py inbox`.
- Community sync pages by timestamp in UTC: PostHog refuses OFFSET for
personal API keys.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Anonymous PostHog analytics (ui/frame_telemetry.py): usage on by default
after a first-run notice; compatibility results and error details opt-in,
offered together by the notice's "Share more to help fix problems" button.
Random id, no person profiles or GeoIP, scrubbed text, an offline outbox,
and "Show what's been sent" in the new Privacy panel. Inert without a
project key, from a source checkout, or with DO_NOT_TRACK=1.
- APK installs now record install_failed when the APK itself won't install,
and offer a 20-second test after installing. Opted-in reports reach the
shared database through PostHog and `frame_compat_db.py sync`.
- The desktop app updates itself from published releases (app/updater.js):
update.json from releases/latest/download, SHA-256 checked, no downgrades;
macOS bundle swap, Windows NSIS, Linux AppImage, otherwise the release page.
scripts/publish-release.sh publishes a tested draft with its manifest.
- Report a problem (header button, Privacy panel, Help menu) files a GitHub
issue through the website's feedback API, with a previewed, scrubbed
diagnostics snapshot; activity and logs only when asked for.
Reviewed by GPT-6 Astra (xhigh, read-only) three times; all findings fixed.
